Service Description

English language GCSE – This is more to do with the way we use language in texts, in speech and how we can create meaningful and effective creative writing. There is also a core element of transactional writing that will inform young people about how language is used to persuade, argue and inform. There is a very heavy focus on SPAG throughout the course. We teach students how to get the most out of the assessment objectives and improve their overall performance. We will frequently give students targets so that they can fill in those gaps and improve their outcome. Reading Canonical Texts: Students will read extracts from: o The Great Gatsby o The Catcher in the Rye o Tess of the D'Urbervilles o The Turn of the Screw Vocabulary and Grammar o Students will enhance their vocabulary and grammar skills through reading. Writing Skills o Students will improve their analytical, evaluative, and imaginative writing abilities. Paragraph Structure o Students will learn to write well-structured paragraphs for analysis and evaluation, crucial for GCSE success. Narrative Writing o Students will practice writing various narratives, focusing on genre, narrative perspectives, and characterisation.
